چکیده

The medical domain currently sees two developments. First, an increasing number of measuring devices deliver hosts of data which do not easily map to the abstract concepts of medicine. Second, the need to improve the quality of health care while reducing its costs has led to a strong demand for clinical protocols and for computer systems supporting both their creation and execution. In this paper we describe the issues arrising in data abstraction and the various kinds of interactions between diagnosis and treatment. We also briefly describe the Asgaard system and show how it can handle such problems by an example.

Quantification and modelling of the dosimetric impact of the treatment couch in volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT)

Background: As the volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) becoming a main role of treatment ways, the effect of couch top becomes more significant. It is imperative to re-evaluate the couches that previously may have been considered of no importance during early treatment techniques. The impact of couch top on radiation delivery was explored and the couch model was tested with the aim of reduc...

GROWTH MODELLING OF SCHOOL CHILDREN IN IRAN USING SHIRAZ DATA

Centile values and growth charts for height, weight and arm circumference are presented for school children aged six to 12 years in Shiraz (Iran). The smooth centile values have been derived from the raw data by Healy's nonparametric method. Girls grow faster than boys. Homogeneity of data with population structure and universal rationing imply that these norms are likely to be appropriate...

THE ROLE OF TREATMENT ON CONTROLLING CHANCROID PREVALENCE

Chancroid is a highly infectious and curable sexually transmitted disease caused by the bacterium Haemophilus Ducreyl (also known as H. Ducreyl). A deterministic mathematical model for investigating the role of treatment on controlling chancroid epidemic is formulated and rigorously analyzed. A threshold quantity known as the productive number, which measures the number of secondary infections ...

Integrating Diagnosis and Treatment in a Flexible Way

There are many approaches to support diagnosis and decision support in the medical domain. There are also some systems modelling therapy plans. But currently there is only little connection between the two fields. Still, diagnosis and treatment are interdependent in various ways. After describing the connections between these two tasks, we give an overview of the Asgaard framework. Finally, we ...
